kelzadiddle: (Kevin Ayers Still Life With Guitar)
I've taken to keeping a to-do list at work on the little clippy board thing on my desk at work. It's a list of every article I've been given to work on.

So this morning I came in to work and the first thing I did was 'refresh' my list - write out a new one, keeping all the items I was still working on, adding new jobs, leaving off the ones I've already done. There are now fourteen items on that list.

These next few days are going to be busy.

I've split all fourteen jobs equally between the next four days. If I do 3.5 jobs every day (which is nothing when I work at a normal pace), I should have them all cleared by Sunday night. Yes, I plan to work during the weekend. If I get as many as humanly possible shifted by then, I'll still have Monday and Tuesday to do stories that, say, I didn't manage to contact people over the weekend for.

So. Today. So far I've managed to get 2 of my 3.5 out of the way. Granted these were both simple jobs, just rewriting press releases... once the caffeine kicks in I think I'll try my hand at the more complicated stuff. Thinking realistically, though, at this pace I could manage six stories today.

In other news, my paper Student Finance application is stamped and ready to go. This is me getting myself sorted out! I'll post that on the way home from work, and then tomorrow I'll give the Prince's Trust Development Grant lady a ring. I've got to stop being so lazy, leaving all these urgent things to the last minute, and bloody well get myself together!

While I'm at it, some more work on the novel wouldn't go amiss...

I should be banned from leaving the office. Seriously, I should. Yesterday I went out for 'dinner' and yes, while I did have a large portion of curry and chips, I also came back with four CDs: 'Infinity Land', 'Blackened Sky' and 'The Vertigo of Bliss' by Biffy Clyro and 'The Very Best of Frank Zappa' (no guesses as to who was responsible for that particular compilation). Today, the same happened, only with no food and 'We Can't Dance' by Genesis.

Five CDs. Cheap as hell, yes (I spent £10.98 on them in total, which isn't bad), but that's not the point. I'm supposed to be saving money, and here I am buying CDs willy-nilly. I really am awful with money.

Anyway, how goes work? )
