It's a sad, sad day. So was yesterday, in fact, but yesterday the news of Elisabeth Sladen's passing was merely a rumour floating about Facebook and Twitter.

This morning, major news sources have started picking up on the story; this is pretty much confirmation.

The whole DW community has been shaken by this news; Sarah Jane was, and will continue to be, my favourite Classic Who companion. The world has lost a brilliant star; a talented, gorgeous lady who's passed decades too soon. But it still hasn't hit home with me that she's really gone. I expect it will, and I'm not looking forward to the realisation.
