New House: Day the Second

The end of my second full day is drawing near. The sun's setting as I write this; it's quite a sight. My window faces west, so the sun sets outside of it. And with the road being nice and wide, I can see a lot of sky from my room, which means in the evenings I have a spectacular view of the sunset.

Two days in and I still feel a little weird in a new house. But it doesn't feel as weird or oppressive as my old house did. When I lived there, I was picked on an awful lot and there was a lot of stress regarding the local area - so in moving, I've put all that behind me. Dad's much happier here, as well, and I have a bigger room with bigger windows. I don't feel claustrophobic any more. It still feels odd because most of my stuff remains packed and I'm still adjusting, but it's better.

Music's helping an awful lot. Huzzah for stealage of Dad's stereo. I've got Kevin Ayers and the Whole World's 'Lunatic's Lament' playing right now, listening to Mike Oldfield unleash that blistering guitar solo. I've worked a little on the novel but it's proving hard to get back into. I just planned chapter fifteen and the start of sixteen.

Not only am I hoping to get a carpet for my room next week (yay!), I also need to do a little bit of back-to-school shopping. I don't even know what I need that can be bought in Earlestown; availability's a big problem around here. I might just do a check on what I have now... ah, crap; this means unpacking. Where the hell are my scissors? Perhaps all the sellotape I used was a bit much...

[Later] Alright. After much fumbling, I have unearthed...
  • Two empty jars.
  • Highlighters and post-it notes.
  • Two pencil cases.
  • A heckload of paperclips (courtesy of my mild kleptomania)
  • Three 30cm/12in rulers.
  • Maths set: protractor, set square, compass etc.
  • Set of coloured biros.
  • 2 fineliner pens.
  • 3 erasers.
  • A roll of green border paper.
  • A watercolour palette (blocks of colour inside a tin).
  • Set of watercolour pencils.
  • Two sets of watercolour paint tubes.
  • Three sets of acrylic paint tubes, nearly used up.
  • One set of oil paint tubes, nearly used up.
  • One good paintbrush, several poor-quality ones.
  • Plastic dish for mixing paints.
  • Roll of sellotape, nearly used up.
  • Paint-covered sponges, most of which are congealed and unusable.
  • Set of 10 Crayola twistables.
  • 12 Noris Club coloured pencils.
  • 36 Crayola coloured pencils.
  • Pile of assorted (and old) pencils.
  • Complete set of oil pastels, also courtesy of kleptomania.
  • Two pairs of scissors.
... and I know I have a set of felt tips lurking in here somewhere. So, basically I'm in need of a notepad for English Literature, a notepad for English Language, a ringbinder for each of those and some dividers to organise my notes. In fact, I have a mostly empty notepad that has some dividers in there... y'know, the 250-page Pukka Pad ones that I love so much. I tore a couple of pages out but there should be plenty for two subjects' notes. And I can decorate the cover in my spare time.

Right. Two ringbinders and a pack of black biros. I'm good for art supplies right now.
